For Our Sisters

Women of God... pray today!
by Yolanda Carey

Sisters, we have the ability to tap into the omnipotent power of God when we go to Him in prayer. Through the vehicle of prayer, we can enhance our intimate relationship with our Father and make our petitions to Him. We are able to bless our lives greatly when we take the time to participate in group prayer sessions or individual prayer. God is in control of our lives and He has the ability to change our circumstances, but we must make the effort to communicate our needs to Him. Women of God... pray today!

Although many people feel ill equipped to pray, there is nothing to fear. Prayer is a simple gesture with unlimited possibilities. I think of it as a conversation with MY FATHER. After you acknowledge His greatness and power, relax and talk to the Lord like a friend, confidant or family member. Discuss your personal challenges with the Lord and ask Him to deliver you from the vices that seek to hinder your relationship with Him. You have the ability to ask for a blessing or say “thank you” for that which He has already blessed you with. Even if you don’t know what to pray for it is O.K., because the Holy Spirit is with you. It guides you during those moments when you don’t know what to say or don’t know what to do. The Bible tells us that even before we speak a word…that our Father in Heaven already knows what we are in need of. Women of God…pray today!

There are many avenues we can use to pray. With electronic prayer requests, we can petition the Lord in a prayer network via the internet. Over the years, I have participated in prayer lines with friends and family members. We simply decided on a time to pray together and prayed consistently for several months. It is a great way to stay connected with others and it works! During my last prayer line, we documented the results of our prayer requests. God showed up and showed out. Amazingly the Lord allowed me to overcome a high risk pregnancy. I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl this year. My prayer partner, who is recently divorced, received a miracle too. God allowed her to heal from the effects of a difficult marriage and saved her home from a pending foreclosure. God is good! Women of God…don’t delay…pray today!

I read each prayer request submitted to Bible Lesson Connection and I pray for each person. Can you imagine the miraculous outcomes if we all prayed for one another, at least once a week? Submit your prayer requests on the Share a Prayer link and pray for others in our online community. Let’s try it…and see the power of the Lord revealed.

Pray daily and keep a list of your prayer requests. After several months, review what you have been praying for and you will be amazed at the results. The Bible says, "the prayer of the righteous man is powerful and effective." Isn’t it wonderful that the Lord desires for us to put our faith in Him. His will is perfect. We must put our trust in Him.

The evidence of what the Lord can do is present in the text of the bible. We can see His ability to perform miracles. The Bible says, “Ask and you shall receive if you believe.” Not only must we ask, but if we want to receive that which we have asked for, we must believe. When I pray, I know that I am praying to a God who is willing and able to grant my requests.

Women of God…make a new commitment. Be consistent. Pray for yourself, pray for others and watch the power of the Almighty God change things in your life and in the lives of others for the better.
